What could possibly go wrong?
What's The Work?[]
Bubsy is a small yet infamous video game series about a bobcat who goes on wacky adventures.
Who Is He?[]
Bubsy is the main protagonist of the franchise, obviously, given that it's named after him.
What Makes Him A Sonic Expy?[]
- Heroic: While an anti-hero, Bubsy does stop Oinker from stealing historical events and reverted back the states of the stories in Fairytaleland by saving the Mother Goose from Hansel and Gretel. He also stopped the Woolies from stealing all the planet's wool (yes, the first game is considered canon if Bubsy 3D is anything to go by). And he also stopped Oinker from stealing all animals in the universe. And the 1993 TV pilot had him stop Ally Cassandra from kidnapping his nephew and niece.
- Energetic: Especially in the TV pilot.
- Confident/Cocky: Outright egotistical at times, even saying that his name is feared by evildoers as casting directors love it.
- Humorous/Witty: One of his main character traits.
- Dynamic: Subverts not being this after a long time of being this thanks to his nephew and niece giving him shoes that make him feel young and ready for action.
- Protective: He is willing to save his nephew and niece (their names are Terry and Terri btw) in the TV pilot.
- Adventurous: Same for dynamic. He was so ready to step into his next adventure after he heard that there's some trouble on the horizon.
- Speedy: His speed in Bubsy 2 is insane to a fault. It ruins the controls (trust me, I've played that game). He also starts running after jogging for a bit. just like Sonic in Bubsy 1 and Bubsy 2.
- Has Catchphrases: "What could possibly go wrong?"
Final Verdict[]
Sure, Woolies Strike Back might have subverted him being a Sonic Expy like he was in the 90s, due to that game's events being mostly because the Woolies stole Bubsy's prized possession and him staying in the house, but with Paws On Fire, he double subverted this trope. Finally makes me say that yes, he is a Sonic Expy once again, and would've been a very easy candidate in the 90s. Well, to be fair, Paws on Fire was 2019. So maybe I should say that if Woolies Strike Back was his latest game, then maybe only his 90s version would qualify. Paws on Fire makes him feel young, full of energy, and ready to take on bad guys, even though before he was given the El Gatos Sapatos, he would only adventure if he was promised more yarn. And besides, as an extra bonus, even the creators of the character said he was inspired by Sonic.
