Now here's one of the weirder candidates on the wiki.
What's The Work?[]
Rocket Knight was a 4-game franchise created by Konami that started with one of the Sega Genesis' greatest games, Rocket Knight Adventures. It features Sparkster as he saves the Kingdom of Zephyrus from various villains.
What Makes Him A Sonic Expy?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Has saved the Kingdom of Zephyrus from the Devontidos Empire twice (Rocket Knight Adventures and Rocket Knight (2010)) and the Gedol Empire in Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2. He also saved the Kingdom of Eginasem from the Wolf Army despite that place not being his home. He is also not willing to reject others' offer of help.
- Confident: Never shows cowardice in the face of danger.
- Humorous: Specifically in the first game, but the two 1994 games (Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2 and Sparkster (SNES)) do have him have some humorous expressions.
- Has a Distinctive Style: A possum wearing a high-tech armor. Does not get more unique in terms of Sonic expies than this.
- Dynamic: He's always shown using his jetpack to fly into the sky after saving a kingdom (specifically its princess), though mostly out of being shy.
- Loyal: He's loyal to others, not willing to turn down others' offers of help.
- Protective: Why else would he keep saving princesses?
- Determined: Is always serious about helping others, saving princesses, and more.
- Speedy: While slow by himself, his gameplay revolves around him using his jetpack for crazy speed and cool results.
- Has An Unforgettable Presence: Mainly because Rocket Knight Adventures is considered by a lot of people who are into the Genesis' library as one of the best games on the system. After all, Konami was such a big name on the system at the time.
- Is An Anthropomorphic Animal: An anthro possum.
Final Verdict[]
A moderate yes. While he has a different personality from other Sonic expies, he's still got a lot of their traits, and is, in fact, the inspiration for the gameplay of an auto-approved Sonic expy (as I can imply from the wallpaper), Sash Lilac. But my next candidate is a weird one. Most probably because Sonic was created to compete against this character. So I can't really call him a Sonic expy due to debuting in his first work 10 years before Sonic did, but I can definitely call him similar to a Sonic expy.
